PET Packaging for Nuts, Dried Fruit and Dry Foods

A practical LiVAR guide for nuts, dried fruit, confectionery and other dry-food applications using PET CAN or PET JAR packaging and compatible closure systems.

LiVAR PET CAN presentation for dry food packaging

Nuts, dried fruit, confectionery and other dry foods can be evaluated across both major LiVAR PET packaging families. The useful starting question is whether the project needs the narrower can-style #202 system or the wider jar-style #305 system.

Option 1: PET CAN #202

LiVAR PET CAN uses the 55 mm / #202 neck and is available in current capacities from 100 ml to 500 ml. The Order Assistant guides solid and powder PET CAN applications toward the compatible EPE aluminum lid. The Mini Can Sealing Machine is the dedicated sealing machine for this family.

Option 2: PET JAR #305

LiVAR PET JAR uses the wider 85 mm / #305 system and includes Cylinder, Round and Square formats. Current catalogue capacities range from 350 ml to 1300 ml. Closure options include EOP and FO aluminum lids and an 85 mm screw cap on compatible configurations.

Which size is best for nuts or dried fruit?

There is no single best volume for every product. Product density, piece size, desired net quantity and presentation all affect the final choice. A practical evaluation uses samples of the actual product in the candidate container rather than converting product weight directly into a nominal container volume.

What should be confirmed before production?

  • Actual product fit and fill quantity using the selected container.
  • Opening size required for filling and consumer access.
  • Closure configuration and sealing method.
  • Finished-package sealing and opening performance.
  • Carton quantity and logistics efficiency.
  • Storage conditions and destination-market documentation.

LiVAR product pages provide the current published technical and commercial data for each SKU. If a regulatory, food-contact or shelf-life claim is required, confirm it against the exact current documentation rather than relying on a general packaging guide.
