When does PET CAN make sense?
PET CAN is the narrower 55 mm system and offers compact to tall formats from 100 ml through 500 ml. It is suited to buyers who want a can-style clear PET presentation combined with the LiVAR #202 aluminum-lid system. Product selection should start with the required capacity and fill type, then move to lid choice and machine voltage.
When does PET JAR make sense?
PET JAR uses the wider 85 mm / #305 system. The current range includes Cylinder, Round and Square formats, with listed capacities from 350 ml to 1300 ml. The wide opening can be useful when product access, filling format or a jar-style presentation is preferred. Closure options include EOP and FO aluminum lids and, on compatible configurations, an 85 mm screw cap.
Do #202 and #305 components interchange?
No. LiVAR treats #202 and #305 as separate compatibility families. A 55 mm PET CAN closure should not be treated as compatible with an 85 mm PET JAR, and the dedicated sealing machines are selected according to the corresponding system.
A simple selection sequence
- Define the intended product and fill.
- Choose the required capacity and preferred container family.
- Confirm the neck system: #202 / 55 mm or #305 / 85 mm.
- Choose only a closure listed as compatible with that system.
- Select the corresponding sealing machine and voltage.
- Order samples where needed and validate sealing, opening and leak performance before commercial production.
Which system should I choose for my product?
There is no universal answer based on volume alone. Two containers can hold a similar amount while offering different opening sizes, shapes, closure formats and carton configurations. The correct decision should be made from the complete compatibility chain and the intended filling and handling process.
